Hand Painted Canvas, Charted
Canvas, and Freebies!
Needlepoint in the US
covers two main types: Hand Painted Canvas and Charted Canvas.
Hand Painted Canvas is *hand* painted,
either by the designer herself (in my case *smile* or by Copy Painters.
The stitcher stitches over the painted canvas, using the painted areas
as a guide. It can be *Area Painted* or *Stitched Painted*. I design in
both styles, with many of my designs using both painting techniques.
In Charted Canvas, the stitcher works from a chart and stitches onto
unmarked canvas.
I design in both styles. In addition, my Needlework Alphabet Books are
particularly popular with needlepointers.
